ARBOR DAY POSTER CONTEST - $100 Cash Prizes

The annual Arbor Day Poster Contest is now open to all fourth and fifth grade students in the greater Gig Harbor/Key Peninsula area. Winning student and teacher will each receive a $100 cash prize and the winning design will be used on the April 24, 2010 "Arbor Day Celebration" event publicity poster. The purpose of this contest is to raise awareness about the importance of trees to our earth and all living things.

RULES FOR ENTERING THE POSTER CONTEST

1. All entries must be original and created by fourth and fifth grade students from the Gig Harbor area. Posters must be completed and in color. Only one entry per student.

2. The artwork should send a positive visual message about the benefits of trees to our environment and should include the words "Arbor Day 2010.”

3. Entries may be done in marker, crayon, watercolor, ink, acrylic or tempera paint. Bolder images reproduce more successfully. Paper should be no smaller than 8 ½" x 11" nor larger than 11" x 17" Computer generated art or collages are not acceptable. Artwork should be sent flat.

4. Entry forms should be completely filled out and attached to the back of all artwork.

5. All entries must be received by 3:00 p.m. March 24, 2010.

6. Send entries to CAROL ALEX at Peninsula High School by dropping off at the main office, through district pony or at GHKP Arbor Day, P.O. Box 1493, Gig Harbor, WA 98335.

The first place cash prizes will be awarded at the event. There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons with participation ribbons awarded to all entries. Posters will be displayed at Civic Center during the celebration and every effort will be made to return posters to their owners.
