ARBOR DAY POSTER CONTEST - $100 Cash Prizes

The annual Arbor Day Poster Contest is now open to all fourth and fifth grade students in the greater Gig Harbor/Key Peninsula area. Winning student and teacher will each receive a $100 cash prize and the winning design will be used on the April 28, 2012 "Arbor Day Celebration" event publicity poster. The purpose of this contest is to raise awareness about the importance of trees to our earth and all living things.

RULES FOR ENTERING THE POSTER CONTEST

1. All entries must be original and created by fourth and fifth grade students from the Gig Harbor area. Posters must be completed and in color. Only one entry per student please.

2. The artwork should send a positive visual message about the benefits of trees to our environment and should include the words "Arbor Day 2012.”

3. Entries may be done in marker, crayon, watercolor, ink, acrylic or tempera paint. Keep in mind that bolder images make more impact and reproduce more successfully. Paper should be no smaller than 8 ½" x 11" nor larger than 11" x 17" Computer generated art or collages are not accepted. Do not fold entries!

4. Entry forms should be completely filled out and attached to the BACK of the artwork.  Entries may be sent through the PSD pony c/o Carol Alex at PHS, brought to the main office at Peninsula High School, or mailed to:  Gig Harbor Peninsula Arbor Day Organization, P.O. Box 1493, Gig Harbor, WA 98335.

5. All entries must be received by 3:00 p.m. March 21, 2012. Winners will be notified by March 28th.  Winners will be invited to receive their prizes in person.

6. Entries in the contest implies consent to reproduce artwork in advertising and on our website.

The first place $100 cash prize and 3 runners up prizes will be presented at the event. Posters will be displayed at the Gig Harbor Civic Center at 3510 Grandview Street off Pioneer in Gig Harbor during the celebration and every effort will be made to return posters to their owners.
