Dear Teachers,
Here is a fun contest for your Kindergarten through 3rd grade students! Gig Harbor Peninsula Arbor Day Org is sponsoring an essay/art contest to raise awareness about the importance of trees in our environment. Follow the simple rules below and send entries to: Carol Alex at Peninsula High School via district pony or mail to the above address.
All entries must be received by March 28th. Awards will be presented at the annual “Arbor Day Celebration” on Saturday, April 28th at the Civic Center on Grandview St. in Gig Harbor. You will be notified if your student is a winner and invited to join him/her at the event.

- Open to all students from the Peninsula School District or
private schools in Gig Harbor currently enrolled in grades K-3.
- Clearly print or write 2 to 3 sentences beginning with “My
favorite thing about trees is …” Please use the entry form
provided, which may be copied for your use.
- Include a colored drawing in the space provided that illustrates
your essay.
- Essays will be judged on originality, content, spelling, grammar
and punctuation, and the creativity of the drawing.
- Essay/art entries must be received by March 28, 2012
- Name, grade, teacher and contact number should be clearly written
on the form so we may contact the winners.
- A $25 gift certificate to Mostly Books in Gig Harbor will be
awarded to the top entry in each grade: Kindergarten, First, Second and
Third Grades.
- Send entries to Carol Alex via PHS pony or to the P.O. Box
address above.
